detoxA detoxification diet is a subject around which many myths and distorted images are growing. It is associated with the time when we practically give up eating, we suffer some kind of tortures in order to get an impeccable figure and full health. Some special aids are required, e.g. plasters or oral detoxification preparations. So, according to many of us, a cleansing diet is a strand of anguish, a test of strength of character and a burden on the wallet. Fortunately, this is all untrue!

There are many opinions on the effective detoxification of the body, but the vast majority of specialists in this field believe that the success of detox depends on taking the right amount of water and following a properly established diet.

Several myths about detoxification

detoxification dietThere are many products available on the market, without which detoxification of the body supposedly cannot succeed. These include, but are not limited to

- Lemon Detox Diet - Master Cleanse, a diet based on a 5-10 day hunger strike supported by lemonade, the so-called lemonade diet,
- pills that block the absorption of carbohydrates by the body,
- a diet based exclusively on the consumption of fruit and protein mixtures (so-called fruit detoxification),
- Colon Cleanser, the colon cleansing pills.

Are these products that will surely clean your wallet or will they be equally effective for your body? Before investing in this kind of specificity, try tried and tested and inexpensive detoxification methods.

Advice for detox beginners

The first step towards a healthy lifestyle is to get rid of any products that you can undoubtedly say are harmful. These include fast foods, artificial sweeteners, coffee (or basically caffeine), fat and fat-dripping products.

Try to eat unprocessed food. Replace harmful products with those that taste similarly and work exactly the opposite way as those that will disappear from your diet. These include e.g. coffee. You can successfully replace it with tea (e.g. yerba mate). Get rid of white sugar and use stevia instead.

Set aside products made of white wheat flour, e.g. white bread, rolls, pasta. Flour products in general, try to limit them, but if you can't imagine life without them, choose bread made of whole grain.

detoxThe most important thing is to drink a large amount of water. This liquid is absolutely essential in the whole detoxification process. Water is necessary for the proper functioning of all our organs. How much should I drink? At least 1 glass for every 5 kg of your body weight. 10 glasses of water is the right amount for a person weighing 50 kg. That's a lot. It can be predicted that frequent visits to the toilet will be the norm with such numbers. However, such a state will not last forever. After about 9 days, the body gets used to the increased dose of water and the situation begins to normalize.

The most important information, quite optimistic by the way, is that detoxification is not about starvation. Diametrical changes in diet cause metabolic shock, which is contrary to the idea of healthy eating. Daily intake of good quality food is a must. In order to speed up the detoxification process, for example, you can opt for raw meals with water and lemon, but such a menu should not last longer than a few days.

If possible, try to buy and consume fruit and vegetables that have not been sprayed with chemicals and pesticides.

Purifying the body from deposits and toxins effectively helps to include lemon, olive oil, coconut oil and apple vinegar in the diet.

Don't be afraid of physical exercise. The body excreted a huge amount of poison with sweat. So run, practice, switch from car to bike. The movement not only helps to detoxify the body, but above all to lose weight.

Products to be dispensed with

As mentioned earlier, white sugar, coffee and caffeinated drinks, carbonated drinks, alcohol and gluten should certainly not be consumed. In addition, dairy products, soya, beef and pork, maize, tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, potatoes, yams, sweet potatoes, bananas, strawberries, oranges and grapes are not conducive to detoxification.
